sony-reader-350Iowa City Public Library continues to grow new collection of downloadable eBook titles!

The Iowa City Public Library has expanded its downloadable collection with the addition of EPUB eBooks at overdrive.icpl.org. From the comfort of home, ICPL card holders can browse the collection, check out, and download eBooks and more anytime, anywhere.

The Library’s opening collection now features more than 270 eBooks by popular authors such as David Sedaris, Neil Gaiman, Paulo Coelho, James Patterson, Ayn Rand, Stephenie Meyer, Kurt Vonnegut and more.

Similar to Adobe PDF eBooks, EPUB eBooks can be read on a PC or Mac® using the free, reader software Adobe® Digital Editions, and are also compatible with the Sony® Reader. EPUB features reflowable text and interactive graphic options, including the ability to resize the text and alter the display to fit any size screen. The Sony® Reader, designed to look and feel like a book, holds hundreds of eBooks and features a screen that reads like paper so it’s easy on the reader’s eyes.

To check out titles, users need a valid Iowa City Public Library card, computer, and Internet connection. Once downloaded, digital media can be enjoyed on a computer and transferred to supported portable devices. At the end of the loan period, titles automatically expire and are returned to the Library’s online collection. Users may return Adobe PDF and EPUB eBooks early.

Visit your virtual library branch to try it today! And please join us for one of our training sessions on Feb. 6 & 18 or March 2 to learn more about how to use eBooks.
