Why is the Iowa City Public Library bringing this service to southeast Iowa City?

Last year, the Iowa City Public Library looked at its facility, its use, and the possible need for more outreach services. After an in-depth assessment of the Library and the community, data showed that residents of southeastern Iowa City could benefit from improved access to public computers. In response, Library staff met with Police Department personnel to explore offering computer access at the Police Substation located in the commercial area of Pepperwood Plaza. The Library is looking forward to this new partnership, and the opportunity to offer more outreach services.

“Providing broader access to computers is just another way the Library can help residents of Iowa City stay connected to the world,” said Community Services Coordinator Kara Logsden. “It’s also a way for the Library to expand its reach beyond downtown.”

Library staff opened this new remote computer access site October 4. Regular hours are from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Staff will be on hand to assist you.

For more information, contact Community Services Coordinator Kara Logsden at the Iowa City Public Library at 319-887-6007 or klogsden@icpl.org. The public is also welcome to ask about this service at the Fiction Desk at ICPL, or by calling the desk at 319-356-5200, option 4.
